오직 미국에서만….. 건강한 사람들이 약국의 앞쪽 진열대에서 담배를

사는 동안 아픈 환자는 진단서를 받으러 맨 뒤까지 걸어가야 한다.

chain the pens to the counters.

오직 미국에서만…. 은행들이 양쪽 문은 활짝 열어놓은체 볼펜들을

카운터에 사슬로 매달아 놓는다.



6. Only in America ......do we leave cars worth thousands of
dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

오직 미국에서만…. 몇천 달러씩 하는 자동차는 집앞에 세워두고 쓸데없는

잡동사니들을 차고에 넣어둔다.

calls and then have call waiting so we won"t miss a call from
someone we didn"t want to talk to in the first place.

오직 미국에서만…. 자동응답기를 사용해서 받기 싫은 전화는 걸러내면서

Call waiting 을 설치해 싫어하는 전화라도 못 받는 일이 없도록 확인한다.

（니나주: Call waiting 은 통화를 하는 도중 전화가 걸려오면 신호를

울려 다른 라인의 전화도 받게 해주는 서비스입니다..... 한국말로 뭔지

몰라서리..... ）



8. Only in America ......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and
buns in packages of eight. （THIS ONE ALWAYS BUGGED ME!）

오직 미국에서만…. 핫덕은 열개짜리 묶음으로 사면서 핫덕 빵은 여덟개

짜리 묶음을 산다 （이건 항상 나를 짜증나게 하는 부분이다!）



9. Only in America ......do we use the word "politics" to describe
the process so well: "Poli" in Latin meaning "many" and "tics"
meaning "bloodsucking creatures".

오직 미국에서만… 정치가 （Politics） 라는 말을 정말 제대로 사용하고

있다. 라틴어로 Poli 는 많다는 뜻이며 tics 는 피를 빨아먹는 괴물이란

뜻이다.

（니나 주: 이건 한국도 마찬가지 같군요….. -_- 앞으로 정치가란 말

대신 politics 로 부르는게 나을지도…… -_-）

오직 미국에서만…. 점자로 쓰여진 드라이브 업 현금출납기를 가지고 있다

（니나 주: Drive up이 한국에도 있나 모르겠군요….. 운전하고 가서 창문

열고 기계 버튼 눌러서 돈 빼는 건데…… 장님이 무슨 운전을 한다고

그걸 점자로….. -_- 장애 시설이 너무 잘 되어 있다보니 별 일을 다

봅니다……）
